Customized Curriculum & Clinical Learning

To build their skills, medical students receive customized advising to develop their own Individual Learning Plan (ILP) to meet their interests and professional goals. 

Under supervision by an attending physician and in collaboration with a resident,, students work with an assigned continuity patient panel. This will help students learn how to provide continuity of care for patients with chronic conditions and diseases.

Community-Engaged Learning

To ensure students begin to form relationships and gain experience in the future settings where they will practice, students will do their clinical rotations in COMPADRE’s partner sites. Here, students will further develop their clinical, health system science, and advocacy skills that will deepen their understanding of the community’s health needs and help them become more involved in the public arena.

Wellness

Students can benefit from participating in optional wellness innovation at multiple levels (individual, program, and systems). Our wellness initiatives follow current research and best practices.

COMPADRE will establish trainee wellness as a key quality indicator by administering the Mayo Well Being Index (MWBI), Perceived Cohesion Scale (PCS), and the Mindful Self-Care Scale (MSCS) to all participants, which measure burnout.

We believe that collaborative learning in immersive settings are rich ways of learning that can enhance students’ wellness. We encourage community development and cohesion to minimize isolation while enhancing belonging. 

With support from their faculty and community coaches, through constant reflection, we hope that our learners practice self-awareness and resilience.

Scholarships

We recognize that medical school can represent a big financial burden. Every year, UC Davis and OHSU will each offer COMPADRE scholarships and/or loan repayment opportunities to students.
